The Hon. Daniel J. Lowenthal is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was elected to the bench in 2006.
Judge Lowenthal graduated with his B.A. in psychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1989.
He went on to earn his J.D. from Cornell University Law School in 1993.
Prior to being elected to the Superior Court, Lowenthal was a deputy city attorney for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office. He joined the City Attorney's Office in 1994 after starting his legal career in private practice.
During his time as a city attorney, Lowenthal served in both their Civil and Criminal Branches. While prosecuting for the civil side, Lowenthal served as manager of the City Attorney's Employment Litigation group.
Judge Lowenthal's family has a long-standing history with the city of Long Beach. Both his mother and father have served as elected officials for the city.
