Humboldt County Superior Court, Department retired

Biography

The Hon. Dale A. Reinholtsen (Ret.) served as a judge for the Superior Court of Humboldt County in California. He was initially appointed to the Municipal Court of Eureka by former Governor Pete Wilson on July 1, 1996. He was then elevated to the Superior Court of Humboldt County on December 23, 1997, filling a vacancy created by the passing of the Hon. William F. Ferroggiaro.

Reinholtsen earned a bachelor’s degree from Humboldt State University. He then completed a J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law.

Prior to his appointment to the bench, Reinholtsen served as a deputy district attorney in the Office of the District Attorney of Humboldt County. He had also worked as an associate at Mitchell, Dedekam and Angel, a firm of which he would eventually rise to partner.

Reinholtsen was publicly admonished by the California Commission on Judicial Performance in 2016. The Commission concluded that he had failed to decide cases in a timely fashion and that he had submitted false salary affidavits.

He retired from the bench in 2018.
