The Hon. Colin P. Leis is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown on November 12, 2014.
Judge Leis received his B.A. from Harvard University. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.
Leis served as a Litigation Associate for the law firm O'Melveny and Myers LLP from 1989-1994. After leaving the firm, he joined the Los Angeles County's Second District Court of Appeal as a senior judicial attorney. He was with the Court of Appeal for 20 years before he was appointed to the Superior Court in 2014.
During his time on the Superior Court Judge Leis has handled several high-profile cases involving celebrities such as singer Robin Thicke regarding a custody dispute, and Dean McDermott, the husband of Tori Spelling, for failure to pay child support.
