The Hon. Clifford T. Blakely, Jr. is a judge for the Alameda County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2019. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Gloria F. Rhynes (Ret.).
He is a registered Democrat.
Judge Blakely graduated with his B.A. in Economics from the University of Southern California in 1992. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in 1995.
After law school, Blakely joined the Alameda County Public Defender's Office as a deputy public defender in 1996. He would remain in that capacity until 2007 when he would leave the public sector.
At that time, Blakely entered into solo practice, opening his own law firm. He worked in private practice for seven years.
He would then rejoin the Alameda County Public Defender's Office in 2014, where he continued his work as a deputy until his appointment to the Superior Court in 2019.
