The Hon. Christopher G. Estes is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was elected to the bench in March of 2000. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of William Seelicke.
Judge Estes graduated with his B.S. in social work from New Mexico State University in 1984. While attending college, Estes completed several internships. He interned at the Probation and Parole Division for the Corrections Department filling out reports on criminal defendants, he served as an intern at the Fort Bliss Army base in New Mexico where he helped investigate child abuse claims involving military personnel, and he also served as an intern for the Associated Catholic Charities. After graduating from college, Estes received his M.S. in social work from Tulane University, New Orleans in 1985. He went on to earn his J.D. from Pepperdine University in 1991.
While attending law school, Estes served as a social worker for the San Bernardino Child Protective Services from 1985 to 1988. He clerked for the Hon. Harvey A. Schneider and the Hon. Bernard J. Kamins, both with the Los Angeles County Superior Court. He then served a clerkship with the law firm of Girardi and Keese.
After graduating from law school, Estes joined the law firm of Engstrom, Lipscomb, and Lack as an attorney in 1991. In 1994 he became a deputy district attorney for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office where he remained until being elected to the Superior Court in 2000.
