The Hon. Christopher C. Edwards (Ret.) served as a judge for the Griffin Judicial Circuit Superior Court in Georgia. Edwards was elected to the bench in 1998. He retired on December 31, 2020, and opened his own private practice.
The Griffin Judicial Circuit comprises Spalding, Pike, Fayette, and Upson Counties.
Edwards earned a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University. He then completed a J.D. at Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad College of Law. He is admitted to practice in Georgia (1981) and Hawaii (1996).
After graduating from law school, Edwards began his legal career as a prosecutor for the Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office. He served in that capacity until 1986, at which time he entered into private practice.
His memberships have included the Pattern Jury Charge Committee, the Benchbook Committee, the Bench and Bar Committee, and the Access to Justice and Fairness in the Courts Committee of the Council of Superior Court Judges.
He is a recipient of the Outstanding Service Award from the Fayette Bar Association, the Justice Robert Benham Community Service Award from the State Bar of Georgia, and the Thomas R. Burnside, Jr. Excellence in Bar Leadership Award from the State Bar of Georgia.
