The Hon. Cheryl Mills is a judge of the Superior Court of Contra Costa County in California. She was first elected to the bench in November 2002 and automatically re-elected in 2014 after running unopposed.
Mills earned a B.S. in medical technology from the University of Minnesota in 1975. She then continued her studies, completing an M.B.A. from the University of Montana in 1978 and a J.D. from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College in 1982.
After graduating from law school, Mills worked as an associate attorney at Lindsay, Hart, Neil & Weigler in Portland, Oregon from 1982 to 1984. She then relocated to California, accepting a position as an associate at Archer & McComas. She practiced there until 1988, eventually leaving to serve as managing partner at Pillsbury, Levinson & Mills. Then, in 1991, Mills started her own private practice, the law firm of Mills & Larson.
Mills has lectured at the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Neurologists. She has also taught as an Instructor for Continuing Education of the Bar.
She has a husband and a son.
