Judge Cheryl A. McCann - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Cheryl A. McCann is a commissioner for the San Joaquin County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench in 2011, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Herb Horstmann.

McCann earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from California State University, Stanislaus. She then completed a J.D. at Humphreys College, Laurence Drivon School of Law. She was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1987 and certified as a Family Law Specialist in 1994.

After graduating from law school, McCann entered into private practice as an attorney in the Law Offices of Margaret Mary Johnston in Stockton. During her tenure there, she supplemented her practice with service as a court-appointed arbitrator in civil cases as well as a private mediator.
