The Hon. Cherol J. Nellon is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2018. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Mary Thornton House (Ret.).
She is registered without party preference.
Judge Nellon graduated with her B.A. in criminology from California State University, Fullerton. She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law.
Nellon began her legal career as a deputy public defender at the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office in 1997. She would remain with the P.D.'s office for almost twenty years, where she would reach the level of deputy public defender III.
Then, in 2016, Nellon was elected by the court judges to serve as a court commissioner for the Los Angeles County Superior Court. She would hold that position until her appointment to the bench two years later.
