The Hon. Charlotte J. Orcutt is a judge for the San Joaquin County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2005. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. James E. Hammerstone (Ret.).
She is a registered Republican.
Judge Orcutt received her bachelor's degree from California State University, San Diego. She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law.
Orcutt began working for the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office as a deputy district attorney in 1994. Her employment there came on the heels of her practicing briefly as a sole practitioner in her own private civil practice. She worked for the San Joaquin County D.A.'s Office for nine years and was assigned to both the Child Abuse/Sexual Assault Unit and the Career Criminals Unit during her tenure there.
Then, in 2003, she was appointed to serve as a San Joaquin County Superior Court commissioner. A position she would hold until her elevation to the bench two years later.
While on the bench, Judge Orcutt has presided in the Criminal Division. She also served as a Presiding Juvenile Court Judge.
Judge Orcutt did not enter into the legal profession by accident, her father, Forrest Price, was a lawyer in El Cajon, California.
