Biography

Hon. Charles M. Eaton, Jr. is a judge for the Fulton County Superior Court (5th Judicial Administrative District) in Georgia. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Brian Kemp on August 12, 2021.

Prior to his appointment, Eaton was serving his third term on the Georgia Public Service Commission. The state regulatory panel plays a role in deciding the cost of electricity and other utility services. He was first elected to the Commission in 2006 and re-elected to six-year terms in 2012 and 2018. Eaton served as its chair in 2008 and was named chairman in 2012.

Before serving on the Commission, he had worked in real estate in Atlanta.

Eaton received a B.S. in accounting from the University of Alabama in 1991. He went on to complete a J.D. at Georgia State University College of Law in 2012. He is also a graduate of the Coverdell Leadership Institute.

Eaton has served as a foster parent for GCAC (Giving Children a Chance) of Georgia. He and his wife, Erika, reside in Atlanta with their two daughters.

Eaton is registered as a Republican.
