Biography

The Hon. Charles H. Solomon (Ret.) served as an acting justice for the New York County Supreme Court (Criminal Term) in the First Judicial District of New York. He was designated to the post by the Hon. Jonathan Lippman, former Chief Administrative Judge of New York.

Solomon was initially appointed to the Criminal Court of the City of New York by former Mayor Ed Koch in 1986. He was subsequently re-appointed by former Mayor Rudy Giuliani in 1999 and former Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2010.

He retired from the bench in 2019 after reaching the state-mandated retirement age.

Solomon earned a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1972.

After graduating from law school, Solomon joined the New York County Office of the District Attorney, where he worked as an assistant district attorney from 1972 to 1978 as well as from 1981 to 1986.
