Biography

The Hon. Charles D. Wachob is a judge for the Superior Court of Placer County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on July 28, 2005, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. J. Richard Couzens.

Wachob earned a B.A. from the University of California, Davis. He then continued his studies at the University of California, Davis School of Law, where he completed a J.D.

Prior to his appointment to the bench, Wachob served as City Attorney for the Office of the City Attorney of Auburn from 1983 to 2005. He represented the city in a variety of cases, such as land use, employment, contracts, and tort claims. During much of this time, he also worked as a partner in the law firm of Leupp, Wachob & Woodall, where he practiced as a civil litigator.

Wachob has served as a member of the Advisory Committee on Civil Jury Instructions for the Judicial Council of California. He was also appointed to its Strategic Evaluation Committee, which was tasked with reviewing the Administrative Office of the Courts.

He was named Judge of the Year by the Sacramento Valley Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates in 2010.
