The Hon. Charles B. Curry (deceased) served as a judge for the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Curry was elected to the bench on September 6, 1988, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. John H. Dewell. He retired on December 31, 2014.
The 10th Judicial Circuit encompasses Hardee County, Highlands County, and Polk County. Curry held assignments in Polk County, sitting as an administrative judge for the General Civil, Felony, Juvenile, and Probate Divisions. He also served as Chief Judge of the 10th Judicial Circuit (1999 to 2003).
Prior to his election, Curry was a judge for the Polk County Court, a position to which he was named in 1982.
Curry earned a B.A. from St. Leo College in 1975. He then completed a J.D. at Florida State University College of Lawin 1978.
After graduating from law school, Curry began his legal career as an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney for the 10th Judicial Circuit. He served in that capacity for one year, eventually leaving to become a founding partner at Shannon & Curry Attorneys at Law.
Born and raised in Polk County, Curry graduated from Haines City High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force (1971 to 1976).
Curry passed away on August 23, 2019.
