Cathryn M. Doyle (Ret.) was a judge for the Albany County Surrogate’s Court in the Third Judicial District of New York. She joined the Surrogate’s Court in 2011. Doyle was removed from the bench in 2014.
During her tenure on the bench, she also served as an acting justice of the Albany County Supreme Court and an acting judge of the Albany County Court.
Doyle received a B.A. from St. John’s University in 1975. She went to earn a J.D. at Albany Law School in 1978.
Prior to joining the bench, she had served as chief clerk of the Albany County Surrogate’s Court (1980 to 2000).
In 2014, the New York State Court of Appeals upheld a decision by the State of New York Commission on Judicial Conduct that Doyle be removed from the bench for her alleged failure to recuse herself from cases where there were possible conflicts of interest.
