The Hon. Carolyn K. Delaney is a U.S. Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, Sacramento Division. She was appointed to the District Court in 2011.
Judge Delaney received her B.A. from Wesleyan University in 1984. She went on to earn her J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1988.
Prior to her appointment to the District Court, Delaney had served as a first assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of California since 2009.
Her other legal experience included working briefly with the U.S. Department of Justice at the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, Turkey for one year beginning in 2008. Before that, she served her first stint with the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of California from 1998 to 2008. She also worked with the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General from 1996 to 1997, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office in Pennsylvania from 1991 to 1996, and the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office in California from 1989 to 1990.
