Judge Camille J. Schaefer: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Camille J. Schaefer is a commissioner for the King County Superior Court in Washington. She was appointed to the bench in 2018.

Prior to her appointment, Schaefer sat as an administrative law judge for the Washington State Office of Administrative Hearings (2017 to 2018).

Schaefer earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Northwest University. She spent the next several years working as the marketing manager for Avure Technologies, a manufacturer of high pressure processing equipment for the food industry. Then, in 2005, she completed a J.D. at Seattle University School of Law.

After graduating from law school, Schaefer entered into private practice, specializing in family law matters through collaborative law and litigation models. She has worked as a sole practitioner as well as an associate in the Law Offices of Kurt D. Bennett and Carol Bailey & Associates.

Her memberships have included the Women’s Business Exchange, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the King County Bar Association, the Washington State Bar Association, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.

Schaefer has also volunteered with the King County Bar Association’s Neighborhood Legal Clinic and Self Help Plus Program and the Washington Community Alliance for Self-Help.
