Hon. Bruce Kyle is a judge for the 20th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. He was elected to the bench on September 5, 2006.
The 20th Judicial Circuit encompasses Charlotte County, Collier County, Glades County, Hendry County, and Lee County. During his judicial tenure, Kyle has held an assignment in the Criminal Division.
Prior to his election, Kyle was an attorney in private practice in Fort Myers, supplementing his practice with service as a member of the Florida House of Representatives. He was elected to the legislative branch in 1998, where he served on the Justice Council (chair), the Rules and Calendar Council, the Business Regulation Committee, and the Finance and Tax Committee. Before entering into private practice, Kyle spent six years as an assistant state attorney with the Office of the State Attorney for the 20th Judicial Circuit.
He received a B.A. from Emory University in 1991. Kyle went on to complete a J.D. at St. Thomas University College of Law (1994) and an LL.M. in taxation from Villanova University, Charles Widger School of Law (1995). He was admitted to practice in Florida (1995) and Georgia (1995).
Kyle has held a membership with the Lee County Bar Association. He has also been involved with the Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce, the Lee County Juvenile Justice Council Key Leaders Board, the McGregor AIDS Clinic, the Sons of the American Revolution, the Lee County Domestic Violence Task Force, and the Lee County Law Enforcement Committee (co-chair).
Kyle, who was born in Fort Myers, Florida, identifies as Catholic. He and his wife, Rebecca, have three children. When not presiding over legal matters, his hobbies have included golf, reading, and spending time with his family.
He is registered as a Republican.
