The Hon. Bruce Boyer is a judge for the 22nd District Court in Hays County, Texas. Boyer was elected to the bench in 2016. His current term expires on December 31, 2020.
Prior to his election, Boyer worked as an attorney in private practice in Comal County. Before that, he served as an assistant district attorney, an assistant county attorney, as well as the City Attorney for the City of New Braunfels.
Boyer earned a B.A. in political science, history, and English from the University of Nebraska in 1973. Then, in 1977, he completed an M.P.A. as well as a J.D. at Southern Methodist University. He is Board Certified in Residential Real Estate Law.
His memberships have included the Comal County Chapter of the American Heart Association, the Comal County Childrens Shelter, the New Braunfels Girls Softball Association, the New Braunfels Rotary Club, and the Comal County Senior Citizens Association. He has served as president of the City of New Braunfels 4B Board, president of the Wurstfest Association, and chair of the Texas Legislative Conference Arrangements Committee. He has also served two terms as the mayor of New Braunfels (2005 to 2011).
Born in Nebraska, Boyer was raised in Texas. His father worked as an executive with the Ford Motor Company. When Boyer was fourteen years old, he family moved to Pittsburgh, where he graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School.
