The Hon. Browder A. Willis III is a judge for the Superior Court of San Diego County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Gray Davis in 2001.
Willis served as an officer in the United States Army. After completing his service, he enrolled in the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where he earned a J.D. in 1983.
Prior to his appointment to the bench, Willis worked in the Office of the District Attorney of San Diego County for eleven years.
Willis sat on the Board of Directors for the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Association. He was also vice-president of the Deputy District Attorney Association as well as a member of the Public Lawyers Committee of the San Diego County Bar.
He was named Judicial Officer of the Year by Chief Probation Officers of California in 2008, and he is a recipient of the Outstanding Jurist Award from the San Diego County Juvenile Justice Commission.
His wife, the late Debra Zanders-Willis, was the COO of the YWCA.
