The Hon. Brian Hill is a judge for the Santa Barbara County Superior Court in California. He was elected to the bench in 2003.
Judge Hill received his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
Prior to being elected to the bench, Hill worked as a senior deputy district attorney from 1985 to 2003. During his tenure there, he helped prosecute cases involving murder, rape, robbery, theft, and other major felonies. He also served as a supervisor for the D.A.'s Consumer Mediation and Fraud Unit.
Before joining the D.A.'s office, Hill worked as a research attorney for the Third District Court of Appeal from 1981 to 1984. He also served as an intern for the First District Court of Appeal and the California Supreme Court.
During his time on the bench, Judge Hill served as a Presiding Judge, an Assistant Presiding Judge, and a Supervising Criminal Judge.
Hill has taught constitutional law as a professor at the Santa Barbara College of Law and the Ventura College of Law. He has also taught on the subjects of employment discrimination, consumer law, and jurisprudence.
He received the Thomas Guerry Award in 1989 and was named Professor of the Year in 1999.
