The Hon. Braden C. Woods is a judge for the Superior Court of San Francisco County in California. He was appointed by former Governor Jerry Brown on December 27, 2012, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Tomar Mason.
Woods earned a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. He then received a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law.
Woods began his legal career as a deputy district attorney with the Office of the District Attorney of Kern County. Then, in 1996, he moved to the Office of the District Attorney of San Francisco County, where he served for the next sixteen years. During his tenure there, he worked as an assistant district attorney. He led the homicide, preliminary hearing, and cold case units, founding the latter in 2008. He was eventually promoted to chief deputy of the criminal division in 2011.
Woods is registered as a Democrat.
