The Hon. Blanca A. Bañuelos is a judge for the San Joaquin County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Gavin Newsom in 2019. At the time, she filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Lesley D. Holland (Ret.).
She is a registered Democrat.
Judge Bañuelos received her J.D. from Loyola Law School in 2003.
She served a clerkship at the Law Offices of James S. Muller while in law school.
In 2004, Bañuelos joined California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc. (CRLA) after receiving a post-graduate fellowship from Loyola Law School. Over the course of her tenure there, she held various positions including serving as the regional director of advocacy and the dairy project manager. Then, in 2016, Bañuelos was named director of the Migrant Unit at CRLA and remained in that capacity until her appointment to the bench.
While on the Superior Court, she has held an assignment in the Juvenile Division.
Bañuelos received the Loyola Public Interest Award from Loyola Law School in 2014.
