The Hon. Beverly K. Wood is a judge for the Marin County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2013.
She is registered decline-to-state.
Judge Wood received her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
Prior to her appointment to the bench, Wood had served as a court commissioner with the Marin County Superior Court since 2005. Before joining the Court, she had spent her entire legal career in private practice, where she specialized in civil and business litigation.
During her tenure on the bench, Judge Wood is credited with establishing the Marin County Superior Court's Community Court program in 2011, which is also known as homeless court. The program seeks to offer community service work to homeless defendants that in turn allows them the ability to obtain insurance and register their vehicles, while also avoiding expensive fines. She has also volunteered her time to preside over the Community Court proceedings, which convene once a month at St. Vincent's in San Rafael.
Judge Wood was selected as Judicial Officer of the Year in 2016 by the Chief Probation Officers of California for her work with the Community Court.
