The Hon. Andre De La Cruz is a judge for the Superior Court of Orange County in California. He was appointed by former Governor Jerry Brown on November 2, 2017, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Frederick P. Horn.
De La Cruz attended the University of La Verne, where he earned a B.S. in 2002. He then received a J.D. from Loyola Law School in 2006.
After finishing law school, De La Cruz spent two years working as an associate at McDermott, Will, and Emery. Then, in 2008, he became a managing associate at Orrick, Herrington, and Sutcliffe. Three years later he joined Western Digital Corporation, working briefly as the Director of Intellectual Property Rights Management. From 2012 to 2013, he worked as a senior associate at Dickstein Shapiro before moving to Sheppard, Mullin, Richter, and Hampton. In 2016 he acted as counsel for Troutman Sanders, a position he held until his appointment to the bench in 2017.
De La Cruz served in the United States Navy from 1993 to 1996.
He was a resident of Fullerton, California at the time of his appointment to the bench.
De La Cruz is registered without party preference.
