Judge Ana Maria Garcia - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Ana Maria Garcia is a judge for the 14th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Scott in 2017. She filled the vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. William Wright.

The 14th Judicial Circuit includes Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, and Washington Counties. Garcia has held assignments in Bay and Jackson Counties and has presided over the Criminal and Family Law Divisions.

She received a B.A. in finance from the University of Florida in 1999. Garcia then completed a J.D. at the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law, in 2002.

At the time of her appointment, she was Jackson County's chief assistant state attorney for the Office of the State Attorney for the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit. Prior to joining the State Attorney's Office, Garcia worked as an attorney at Carlton Fields, P.A. and Moye, O'Brien, Pickert & Dillon, LLP.

She was born in Cali, Columbia, and immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of five.
