The Hon. Alison M. Mackenzie is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2018. She filled the vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. Helen I. Bendix to the Court of Appeal.
She is a registered Democrat.
Judge Mackenzie received her B.A. from Stanford University. She went on to earn her J.D. from Yale Law School.
Mackenzie served a year-long clerkship for the Hon. Dean D. Pregerson with the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in 2005. After completing her clerkship, Mackenzie began her legal career as an associate at the law firm of Caldwell, Leslie, and Proctor PC in 2006. In 2014, she became counsel and two years later would become a shareholder at the firm. In 2017, Caldwell et al. merged with Boies Schiller Flexner LLP. Mackenzie would remain on as a partner at Boies Schiller Flexner until her appointment to the Superior Court the following year. While at the firm, Mackenzie's area of practice involved complex civil litigation with an emphasis on entertainment and intellectual property disputes as well as legal malpractice claims.
