The Hon. Alicia R. Ekland is a judge for the Glenn County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2018. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Peter B. Twede (Ret.). At the time of her appointment, Judge Eckland held the distinction of being the first woman to ever be appointed to the Glenn County Superior Court.
She received her B.A. from the University of California, Davis. She went on to earn her J.D. from the Yeshiva University Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
Ekland served as a deputy public defender with the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office for two years beginning in 2007.
She then entered into private practice working as an associate first at Solomon, Saltsman, and Jamieson in 2009 before then joining the Law Offices of Alex Kessel that same year.
In 2010, she worked as a staff attorney at the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking before going into solo practice in 2012. Ekland remained in solo practice until 2016, during which time, she also served as a volunteer attorney at Legal Services of Northern California for one year beginning in 2015.
She left private practice when she was appointed to serve as the county counsel for Glenn County in 2016, a position she would hold until her appointment to the Superior Court in 2018.
