The Hon. Alex Saldamando (Ret.) served as a judge for the Superior Court of San Francisco County in California. He was originally appointed to the Municipal Court of San Francisco by former Governor Jerry Brown in 1979, serving in each department before his elevation to the superior court in 1990.

Saldamando earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1964. He then received a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1967.

He began his legal career as a staff attorney for the San Francisco Neighborhood Legal Assistance Foundation, where he represented low-income clients in landlord-tenant disputes. Then, in 1974, Saldamando joined California Rural Legal Assistance as a managing attorney. During his brief tenure there, he worked as a lobbyist. He appeared before the California State Legislature to represent the interests of low-income clients in pending state legislation involving employment, credit, and insurance issues.

Saldamando moved to the Office of the District Attorney of San Francisco County in 1977. He served as an assistant district attorney in its Consumer Fraud Unit, a position he held until his appointment to the bench.

Saldamando self-identifies as a Mexican-American. His parents were born in Arizona in the early 1900s, just before it achieved statehood.
