The Hon. Alesia F. Jones is a judge for the Solano County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2008. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. R. Michael Smith (Ret.).
She is a registered Democrat.
Judge Jones received her bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
Prior to her appointment to the Superior Court, Jones had served as an assistant city attorney for the Vallejo City Attorney's Office for fourteen years. Upon being hired on in Vallejo, Jones was only the second African American woman to work at the City Attorney's Office, the first being Jones' own mother. During her time there, Jones was responsible for a broad range of complex civil litigation for the City, where she was tasked with handling the vast majority of cases filed against Vallejo. In her position there, she also served as an advisor to City officials and agencies.
Jones had been an associate at Long and Levit LLP before joining the Vallejo City Attorney's Office in 1994. She also worked as a deputy city attorney for the City of Berkeley.
While on the bench, Judge Jones has been assigned to the Civil Division where she has presided over probate of estate/trust matters.
