Judge Aaron L. Gingrich - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Aaron L. Gingrich is a judge for the Mifflin County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. He was elected to the seat on November 3, 2015 to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Rick A. Williams (Ret.).

At the time of his election, Gingrich was a judge for the Mifflin County Magisterial District Court, a position he had held since 2010. While on the District Court, he presided over criminal, civil, traffic, summary non-traffic, and landlord/tenant cases.

During that same time, he worked as an attorney in the Houck & Gingrich Law Offices in Lewistown. Gingrich joined the firm in 2001. While there, he handled a variety of cases including real estate, estates, wills and trusts, divorce, custody, banking law, business and corporate law, and elder law matters. In addition, Gingrich served as a court-appointed attorney for Mifflin County Children & Youth cases and was a mental health hearing review officer for the Mifflin County Court of Common Pleas. He also spent time as a law clerk for the court.

Gingrich received a B.A. from Dickinson College in 1994. He went on to complete a J.D. at Widener University, Delaware Law School in 2001.

His civic involvement has included the Justin Henry Scholarship Trust (trustee), the Juniata Valley YMCA (lifetime member), and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. He also sat on the Mifflin County Criminal Justice Advisory Board and the Victims of Crime Act Policy Board.

Gingrich also was the former head coach for the Mifflin County High School boys’ basketball program (2011 to 2019) and at Lewistown High School before that (1998 to 2011). At the time of his resignation from the position, he held the distinction of being the winningest coach in county history.

A native of Mifflin County, Gingrich resided in Lewistown with his wife, Shauna, and their two children at the time of his election. He is a graduate of Lewistown Area High School and attends the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church along with his family.
