The Hon. Aaron H. Katz is a judge for the Superior Court of San Diego County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Gray Davis on April 2, 2003, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Bonnie Dumanis.
Katz earned a B.A. in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1983. He then received a J.D. from Southwestern Law School in 1986.
Katz began his legal career as a deputy district attorney in the Office of the District Attorney of San Diego County in 1986.
Then, in 1990, he left the public sector and joined Chapin, Shea, McNitt & Carter as an associate. During his thirteen-year tenure there, he specialized in medical malpractice defense and products liability cases on behalf of doctors, hospitals, and businesses.
He has served as president of the San Diego County Bar Association.
Katz was born in Pasadena, California. He has lived in Scripps Ranch with his wife, Superior Court Commissioner Keri Katz.
