Hon. A. Gregory Poole is a judge for the Cobb County Superior Court in Georgia. He was elected to the bench in July 2012.
During his judicial tenure, Poole has presided over a wide range of cases including family law matters, civil and criminal trials, and land and equity actions.
Prior to his election, he sat as a judge for the Cobb County Juvenile Court since 2003.
Before beginning his judicial career, Poole practiced for several years as an attorney at the law firm of Dupree, Poole & King beginning in 1985. His areas of practice included criminal, civil, family, and education law. His legal career also included representing the Marietta Board of Education (1990 to 2003).
Poole received a B.A. in European history from Presbyterian College in 1982. He went on to complete a J.D. at Samford University, Cumberland School of Law in 1985.
Poole has held memberships with the State Bar of Georgia, the Cobb County Bar Association, the Cobb Justice Foundation, the Weltner Family Law American Inn of Court (Master of the Bench and Executive Committee member), the Marietta Lawyers Club, the Georgia Council of Juvenile Court Judges (past president), and the Georgia Institute of Continuing Judicial Education (trustee).
He also sat as a member of the State Bar of Georgia Bench and Bar Committee, Consumer Assistance Program, and Next Generation Courts Commission as well as the Georgia Supreme Court Committee on Justice for Children.
He received the Distinguished Judicial Service Award from the Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Georgia (2004) and the West Cobb County Citizen of the Year Award (2016).
His civic involvement has included the Marietta Schools Foundation (Board of Directors) and the Marietta Pops Orchestra.
Poole was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia, where he continues to reside with his wife, Lucia Poole, who works for the Cobb County School System. They have five children and are members of Marietta First United Methodist Church.
