The Hon. Steven Hippler is a judge for the 4th Judicial District Court of Idaho. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Butch Otter in 2013.
The 4th Judicial District includes Ada, Boise, Elmore, and Valley Counties.
During his judicial tenure, Hippler has served as administrative district judge for the 4th Judicial District. He has held an assignment in Ada County, where he has presided over the Ada County Mental Health Court as well as a civil and felony calendar.
Prior to his appointment, Hippler was a partner at Givens Pursley, LLP since 2002. Before joining the firm, he was a partner at Hall Farley Oberrecht & Blanton. His areas of practice included medical malpractice, business disputes, and regulatory matters.
Hipper received a bachelor’s degree from Boise State University. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Utah, S.J. Quinney College of Law in 1991. Hippler was admitted to practice in Idaho and the United States District Court for the District of Idaho.
He served as a member of the Idaho Supreme Court’s Rules of Civil Procedure Committee and Jury Committee and was part of the Supreme Court task force tasked with revamping the language of the Idaho Rules of Civil Procedure.
A native of Boise, Idaho, he attended Bishop Kelly High School. In his free time, Hippler has coached youth football and youth baseball.
