The Hon. Robert A. Wilbrandt (Ret.) served as a circuit judge for the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois. Wilbrandt was appointed to the bench by the Illinois Supreme Court in 2017, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Maureen P. McIntyre. He retired on July 23, 2022.
Prior to his appointment, Wilbrandt was an associate judge for the 19th Judicial Circuit, a position to which he was named in 2006. Before that, he spent time as a prosecutor for the Village of Fox River Grove, an attorney-instructor for Turning Point at the McHenry County Domestic Violence Agency, and the Chief Public Defender for the McHenry County Public Defender’s Office.
His memberships have included the Illinois Judges Association and the Illinois Judicial College Educational Conference. He also taught law and history classes at McHenry County College.
He is a recipient of the Service Award from the McHenry County Bar Association and the Civics Education Award from the Illinois State Bar Association.
When not presiding over legal matters, he enjoys teaching, motor scootering, and community theater activities.
