The Hon. Owen P. Eagan is a judge for the West Hartford Probate Court (District 2) in Hartford County, Connecticut. He was elected to the bench on November 8, 2016.
Prior to his election, Eagan was a partner at Eagan, Donohue, Van Dyke & Falsey, a law firm he co-founded. He specialized in personal injury, civil rights, employment, construction, contract, probate, real estate, and corporate law matters.
Eagan earned a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University in 1982. He then completed a J.D. at the Georgetown University Law Center in 1985. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut (1986), the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut (1986), and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit (1986).
After graduating from law school, Eagan began his legal career as a law clerk to the Hon. G. Marvin Bober of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission and the Hon. F. Owen Eagan of the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.
His memberships have included the West Hartford Town Council (deputy mayor), the West Hartford Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission. He was also involved with the Connecticut Bar Association and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association.
Born and raised in West Hartford, Eagan attended St. Timothy’s Grammar School and Northwest Catholic High School. He is the son of the Hon. F. Owen Eagan (deceased), former magistrate of the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. When not presiding over legal matters, he volunteers as a coach for youth soccer, basketball, and football. He and his family attended St. Mark’s Church.
He is registered as a Democrat.
