Hon. Louis B. Aranda is an associate judge for the 18th Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois in DuPage County. He was appointed to the bench by the circuit judges of the 18th Judicial Circuit on October 15, 2020, filling the vacancy created by the appointment of the Hon. Michael W. Reidy to circuit judge.
During his judicial tenure, Aranda has presided over the Domestic Relations Division.
Prior to his appointment, he was a partner at Hunt, Aranda & Subach, Ltd. in Bensenville, where he practiced since 2015. Before that, Aranda was a partner at Hunt, Kaiser, Aranda & Subach, Ltd. (2000 to 2015); a partner at Hunt, Kaiser, Bush & Aranda, Ltd. (1994 to 2000); and an associate at Kupisch & Hunt, Ltd. (1991 to 1994). His areas of practice included commercial and residential real estate, probate and guardianships, criminal, traffic and DUI, trusts and real estate planning, evictions and foreclosures, and business and corporate matters. Aranda also acted as an appointed Guardian ad Litem for minors and disabled adults in guardianship matters.
He received a bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1987. Aranda went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1990. While a law student, Aranda was a law clerk to a circuit judge in Madison, Wisconsin.
He was admitted to practice in Illinois in 1991.
His memberships have included the DuPage County Bar Association, the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois, and the National Trial Lawyers Association. Aranda was also involved with the DuPage County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (past president), Lawyers Lend a Hand, Feed My Starving Children, the National Hispanic Real Estate Professionals-Chicago North Board of Directors, and Peer Jury.
Aranda is a first-generation Mexican-American. His parents were both born in Mexico, and his father immigrated to the United States to join the armed forces in the 1950s. He is fluent in Spanish.
