Hon. Laura E. H. Harvell is a judge for the Montrose County Court in Colorado. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Jared Polis in June 2022, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Bennett A. Morris.
Prior to her appointment, Harvell had managed her own private practice, the Law Office of Laura Harvell, P.C., since 2018. She also served as a contract attorney with the Office of the Alternate Defense Counsel and the Office of Respondent Parents’ Counsel (2018 to 2022). Her areas of practice included criminal defense and dependency and neglect cases.
Before opening her law firm, Harvell was an associate at the Law Office of Jennifer E. Longtin, LLC (2016 to 2018) and an attorney with the Office of the Municipal Public Defender (2014 to 2016).
She received a bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston in 2007. Harvell went on to complete a J.D. at the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2014.
