The Hon. Kristen Smith-Rodriguez is a general magistrate for the 18th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. She was appointed to the position by the Hon. Tonya Rainwater, former Chief Judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit, in 2019.
The 18th Judicial Circuit includes Brevard and Seminole Counties.
Prior to her appointment, Smith-Rodriguez was a sole practitioner for three years. She established her law firm in 2016 after practicing as an attorney at the law firm of Telfer, Faherty, Anderson & Hawkins, P.L. (2012 to 2016) and as an associate at the Erlenbach Law Offices, P.A. (2011 to 2012). While in private practice, Smith-Rodriguez specialized in family law.
Smith-Rodriguez received a B.A. from the University of Central Florida in 2006. She then completed a J.D. at Florida State University College of Law in 2010.
Her memberships have included the City of Titusville Board of Adjustment and Appeals, the Brevard County Bar Association and its Young Lawyers Division, the Brevard Business Builders (past president), and the Kiwanis Club of Titusville (past president-elect).
Smith-Rodriguez received the Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award from Brevard County Legal Aid in 2014.
