The Hon. Kevin W. Eide (Ret.) served as a judge for the 1st Judicial District Court of Minnesota. Eide was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jesse Ventura on February 15, 2001. He retired on June 19, 2020, and became a senior judge for the State of Minnesota.
The First Judicial District includes Carver County, Dakota County, Goodhue County, Le Sueur County, Scott County, and Sibley County.
Prior to his appointment, Eide was a shareholder of Grannis & Hauge, a law firm he joined in 1990.
Eide earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Olaf College in 1975. He then completed a J.D. at William Mitchell College of Law in 1979.
After graduating from law school, Eide began his legal career as an associate at Hauge & Associates. He worked in that capacity until 1985, at which time he became a shareholder of Hauge, Eide, Anderson & Keller.
His professional memberships have included the Minnesota District Judges Association, the Minnesota State Bar Association, the Dakota County Bar Association, and the First District Bar Association. He co-authored the Minnesota Judges Juvenile Bench Book, and he has been actively involved with the Child Abuse & Neglect Institute, the Carver County Children’s Justice Initiative, the Minnesota Court Operations Advisory Workgroup, and the Minnesota Juvenile Protection Rules Committee.
Eide has also been a member of the Chaska Rotary Club and the Burnsville Rotary Club (president).
