The Hon. Johnnie A. Copeland is a judge for the 14th Judicial Circuit Court of Arkansas. She was elected to the bench on March 3, 2020, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Gordon Webb.
The 14th Judicial Circuit includes Baxter County, Marion County, Boone County, and Newton County.
Prior to her election, Copeland was a judge for the Fulton County District Court, a position to which she was named by Governor Asa Hutchinson in 2017. Before that, she was a deputy prosecuting attorney for the 14th Judicial District (2015 to 2017).
Copeland earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Vanderbilt University and a master’s degree in communications studies from the University of Arkansas. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, William H. Bowen School of Law.
After graduating from law school, Copeland spent time as a partner at Ethredge & Copeland (formerly Osmon & Ethredge), where she handled business litigation, family law, estate planning, civil litigation, personal injury, bankruptcy, administrative law, and appellate law matters.
Her memberships have included the Baxter County Bar Association. She also sat on the Arkansas Supreme Court’s Committee on Child Support.
Born in Blytheville, Arkansas, Copeland attended Blytheville High School. She and her husband, Scott, have one son and reside in Mountain Home.
