The Hon. John A. Trice (Ret.) served as a judge for the Superior Court of San Luis Obispo County in California. He was elected to the bench on November 7, 2002, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. James Ream.
Trice earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of Southern California in 1977. He then completed a J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law in 1979.
Prior to his election to the bench, Trice served as a deputy district attorney in the Office of the District Attorney of San Luis Obispo County from 1984 to 2002. Before that, he served as a judge advocate, trying felonies and court martials for the United States Air Force from 1980 to 1984.
As a veteran of the United States Air Force, Trice was instrumental in the creation of the county’s first Veterans Treatment Court.
Trice was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.
He retired from the bench in 2017.
