Hon. Colleen A. Hyland is an associate judge for the Cook County Circuit Court in Illinois. She was elected to the Circuit Court by the Cook County Circuit judges in 2001.
While on the bench, Hyland has held assignments in the Fifth and First Municipal Districts of the Municipal Department.
Hyland received a B.A. from John Carroll University. She went on to complete a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law.
Prior to joining the bench, she had worked as an assistant state’s attorney.
Hyland also taught trial advocacy as an instructor at DePaul University College of Law.
She was an alumni fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago.
Hyland, who grew up in Evergreen Park, a suburb of south Chicago, was the daughter of John Hyland, who served as president of the Evergreen Savings and Loan. Her mother and father were both descendants of Irish immigrants.
