The Hon. Christopher M. Harmon is an associate judge for the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois. He was appointed to the bench by the judges of the 19th Judicial circuit on January 25, 2013.
Prior to his appointment, Harmon was an attorney at Gummerson Rausch Wand Lee Wombacher, a law firm he joined in 2011. Before that, he spent time as a senior felony assistant public defender with the McHenry County Public Defender’s Office (2000 to 2011), an assistant public defender with the Lake County Public Defender’s Office (2000), and an associate at Campion, Curran, Rausch, Gummerson & Dunlop.
Harmon earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Eastern Illinois University in 1986. He then completed a J.D. at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1993. As a law student, Harmon financed his studies by working as a customer service representative for United Airlines.
After graduating from law school, Harmon began his legal career as a sole practitioner in his own private practice. He supplemented his practice with service as a contract attorney with the Juvenile Division of the Lake County Public Defender’s Office. He worked in that capacity until 1995, at which time he became an assistant public defender for the McHenry County Public Defender’s Office/a>.
Born in Springfield, Illinois, Harmon was raised in Decatur, where he attended Warrensburg-Latham High School. He and his wife have two children.
