The Hon. C. Yvonne Holt-Stone (Ret.) served as an associate judge for the Baltimore City District Court in Maryland. Holt-Stone was appointed to the bench by former Governor William Schaefer on May 10, 1991. She retired on February 26, 2020.
Over the course of her judicial career, Holt-Stone held assignments on the Mental Health, Alcoholism & Addiction Committee and the Public Awareness Committee of the Maryland Judicial Conference. She also sat on the Administrative Judges Committee of the District Court of Maryland.
Holt-Stone earned a bachelor’s degree from Morgan State College (1971) and a master’s degree in city planning from the University of Pennsylvania (1973). She spent the next two years working as the District Planner in the Baltimore City Planning Department before completing a J.D. at the University of Maryland, Francis King Carey School of Law in 1979.
After graduating from law school, Holt-Stone began her legal career as an assistant state’s attorney for the Howard County Office of the State’s Attorney. During her tenure there, she also served as a part-time hearing officer for the City of Baltimore. Then, in 1981, Holt-Stone became a Master in Chancery for the Division for Juvenile Causes of the Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Her memberships have included the Maryland State Bar Association, the Baltimore City Bar Association, the Monumental City Bar Association, the Alliance of Black Women Attorneys, and the Black-Jewish Forum of Baltimore. She also served on the Board of the Health & Welfare Council of Central Maryland, the Board of Directors of the Baltimore Regional Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the Board of Trustees of the Walters Art Museum.
Holt-Stone was born in Washington, D.C. She attended Forest Park Senior High School in Baltimore.
