The Hon. Bruce D. Alpert (Ret.) was a justice of the New York State Supreme Court in the Tenth Judicial District of New York. He joined the Supreme Court in 1993 and presided in both Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Alpert retired in 2007.
His judicial career began in 1986 when he became a judge for the Nassau County District Court. Alpert remained on the District Court bench until 1992. On the Supreme Court, he presided over civil litigation cases including cases involving personal injury, premises liability, products liability, and municipal liability.
He received a B.A. from Lehigh University in 1962. Alpert went on to complete an LL.B. at New York University School of Law in 1965.
Prior to joining the bench, he was lead counsel to the supervisor of Nassau County and to former U.S. Senator Alfonse M. D’Amato. Alpert began his legal career in private practice (1966 to 1977).
His memberships included the Nassau County Bar Association, the Nassau County Academy of Law, and the New York State Bar Association.
After retiring from the bench, Alpert joined NAM as a hearing officer.
