The Hon. Barbara A. Zollars (Ret.) served as a judge for the Rio Grande County Court in Colorado. Zollars was appointed to the bench by former Governor John Hickenlooper on August 13, 2015. She retired in 2022.
Prior to her appointment, Zollars was a partner at the San Luis Valley Law Firm. Before that, she spent time as a deputy state public defender, sitting as the Office Head for the Colorado State Public Defender’s Office in Alamosa, Fort Collins, and Silverthorne.
Zollars earned a J.D. from Seattle University School of Law. After graduating from law school, Zollars began her legal career as the founder and director of the Legal Action Center at the Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle. She was also an employment rights commissioner for the City of Seattle.
