The Hon. Anthony B. Miller is a judge for the 2nd Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Ron DeSantis on April 4, 2020, filling a vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. Martin Fitzpatrick to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida.
The 2nd Judicial Circuit encompasses Franklin County, Gadsden County, Jefferson County, Leon County, Liberty County, and Wakulla County.
Prior to his appointment, Miller was a judge for the Leon County Court, a position to which he was named in 2019.
Miller earned a B.A. in political science from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in 1995. He then completed a J.D. at Florida State University College of Law in 2000. While in law school, Miller served as a law clerk for the Office of the Attorney General of Florida.
After graduating from law school, Miller began his legal career as assistant general counsel for the Florida Department of Financial Services (2000 to 2004) and the Florida Department of Management Services (2004 to 2006). He then transferred to the Florida Department of Corrections, where he spent the next year as deputy general counsel.
Miller returned to the Florida Department of Financial Services in 2007. He held assignments as assistant general counsel in the Division of Workers’ Compensation (2007 to 2008) and assistant director of the Division of Funeral, Cemetery and Consumer Services (2008 to 2014).
Then, in 2014, Miller moved to the State of Florida Lottery, where he spent the next three years as deputy general counsel and chief ethics officer. He worked in that capacity until 2017, at which time he became general counsel and chief ethics officer for the Florida Agency for State Technology.
Miller has served as Commissioner for the Florida State Retirement Commission.
