The Hon. Yara Lorenzo Klukas is a judge for the Miami-Dade County Court in Florida. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Ron DeSantis in May 2023, filling the vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. Javier Enriquez to the 11th Judicial Circuit Court.
Klukas has held an assignment in the County Domestic Violence Division.
Prior to her appointment, she was an assistant United States attorney with the United States Department of Justice since 2019. Before her time as a federal prosecutor, Klukas was a law clerk to the Hon. James L. King with the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida (2018 to 2019) and an associate at Hogan Lovells (2012 to 2018).
She received a B.A. in political science and ethnic studies from Brown University in 2005. Klukas then completed a J.D. at St. Thomas University, Benjamin L. Crump College of Law, in 2009.
After graduating from law school, she began her legal career as a law clerk to District Judge King (2009 to 2011) and later served as a law clerk to the Hon. Peter T. Fay with the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit (2011 to 2012).
